The Florida Department of Education (DOE) has released the high school grades for the 2010-2011 school year, and FASA congratulates school administrators, teachers and students for the great improvements. Results show that 78 percent of the state's high schools earned either an "A" or "B" grade, up from 71 percent last year. This is the second year that the expanded grading system has been used and incorporates 50 percent from FCAT scores and 50 percent from factors such as: - school's graduation rate;
- performance and participation of students in Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Dual Enrollment, Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), and industry certification;
- postsecondary readiness of high-achieving students as measured by the SAT, ACT, or College Placement Test (CPT);
- high school graduation rate of at-risk students.
The graph below depicts high school grades since 2002 as released by DOE. It is important to note the increase in schools earning "A" and "B" grades while "C," "D" and "F" numbers are falling. |
